In demand as a recitalist and chamber musician across the globe, Joseph Christianson is a member of three-time Grammy® nominated Quartet San Francisco. He gave the world premiere of Yi Qiao's Duet for violin and piano at the 2019 ASEAN Festival in Nanning, China, played at the opening concert at the Cremona Festival with Quartet San Francisco in Cremona, Italy, and performed in Lorin Maazel's 2012 production of La Boheme in Muscat, Oman. He appeared on national television playing Heinrich Biber’s ‘Rosary’ Sonata No. 16 for solo violin at San Francisco Archbishop Cordileone’s 2019 Marian Hymn Festival. He accompanied Andrea Bocelli in front of 17,500 people at SAP Center in San Jose, CA, and played with the soul band Tower of Power at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. He has taught masterclasses and workshops in locales ranging from Nanning, China to Wichita, Kansas.
Joseph joined Quartet San Francisco in 2018. Since then they have toured in Italy, recorded A QSF Journey, which reached Number 1 on new releases in Amazon's Chamber Music category, appeared on American Public Radio's Performance Today, and taught at the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society's Artist in Residency program in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.
With over a decade of experience as a violin instructor, Joseph maintains a busy schedule as a teacher in the Bay Area.
